Ten Freaks for Hubris Part 2, the divergence into tables...
For part two, I've done some leg-work behind the scenes trying to get some decent randomization options for suggesting colorful and appropriate outcomes for the Hubris setting. I've rounded our freaks up, tried to determine a few random facts about them using some tables, and was planning to stat them out when...
My domestic partner, significant other, and badass girlfriend, got involved with making the random tables. We drank, quibbled, and talked through an ethos surrounding them; they have to provide interesting outcomes in order to spur ideas, fit the spirit of the genre / game, represent our social science geekery, and they are totally optional. Feel free to use them if you like.
Creating Random Freaks for Hubris ~ optional tables for jumpstarting character ideas...
(Inspiration for the following tables is attributed to)what went wrong?
hubris
Sex and Gender are different:
(d20) Roll once for (biological) sex
1-9
You’re a Chick
10-18
You’re a Dude
19
You’re a Hermaphrodite
20
You have mutant plumbing down there that doesn’t make much biological sense.
Sex and Gender are different:
(d12) Roll once for (psychological) gender
1-6
Your gender is the same as your sex
7-9
Your gender is the opposite of your sex
10-12
You don’t really feel like a Chick or a Dude
Sexual Preference:
(d20) based on the Kinsey scale, although of course not representative of the range of human sexuality, because, hey, we’re not generating actual humans!
1
Exclusively heterosexual
2-4
Predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual (“oops!”)
5-7
Predominantly heterosexual, but more than incidentally homosexual
8-11
Equally heterosexual and homosexual
12-14
Predominantly homosexual, more more than incidentally heterosexual
15-17
Predominantly homosexual, only incidentally heterosexual (“but just that one time”)
18
Exclusively homosexual
19
Asexual
20
Cross-species gender attraction (choose the species/object, and what combination of that species’ gender you prefer)
Your philosophy of life:
| (d4) “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy”
- Shakespeare, Hamlet
|
1
The gods hate you, and your suffering amuses them
2
Everyone has an agenda; it’s your job to figure out how they want to screw you
3
The world is what you make it
4
Please the gods and you will know your path. Displease the gods, and, well...
Selfishness vs. Altruism:
| (d20) “There are no heroes in the world.”
- wrathofzombie, on Hubris
|
Well yes, but...

1-6
You always think only of yourself
7-12
You usually think only of your needs, unless there’s honor or money or...
13
You strive to equally balance your needs and the needs of others
14-19
You usually think only of others’ needs, unless there’s honor or money or...
20
You always think only of others
Next time...
I want to go back to our freak's stats and rearrange them. I know I'm risking the mockery of cruel gods to do so, but hey...
